Fundraiser to be Held

My Mom Lee and her husband Matt sold all of their belongings and relocated their comfortable lives from New Jersey to Cebu, Philippines to start an orphanage that rescues impoverished kids from the dangerous streets. Street Kids Philippine Missions, a 301(c) non-profit corporation, is dedicated to giving those most vulnerable a place to live, learn, and be loved while being raised to be disciples of God’s Word.

On Saturday October 15th from 2pm-6pm, Street Kids PM is holding a fundraiser event at Chico’s House of Jazz in Asbury Park. With special guest performances by recording artists Sophie Dupin, Jay Loftus and others; win a Kindle Fire and other prizes in our raffle. Recommended donation is $50.

First Night in Asbury Park

This Saturday, we will have our office open during First Night between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:00pm, this Saturday, October 1, 2011. Members of the APEA will be available to answer questions that pertain to education and what we do in the City of Asbury Park. During the evening, Chrissy Hayes will also have a table set up for information about one of our colleagues, Suzanne Fiemster. Suzanne has been battling her estranged husband for custody of her children. He has taken the children to Tunisia, where he will not allow them to leave with their mother. Chrissy has been instrumental in getting the information out to the public about this dire situation. Please stop by and support this cause. We look forward to seeing you at the opening of our office.

4th of July Parade

Please be advised that the Asbury Park Education Association will be marching in the City of Asbury Park Annual Parade. The parade starts at 12:00pm on Grand Ave. We will be handing out water bottles to people along the parade route. If you are interested in attending and participating, please plan to meet on Grand Ave. no later than 12:00pm. Regina Jagoo is in charge and is looking for volunteers of all ages to participate.

We look forward to seeing you and hope you have a great 4th of July. This should be a fantastic event for everyone.

End of the Year Bash

Tickets are on sale now in all buildings for the End of the Year Bash. This year, we will be holding this event at the new Beach Bar in the Convention Hall in Asbury Park. This event will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $20.00 in advance with $10.00 to be given back to any APEA member that gets there before 5:00pm. This price includes food and two drink tickets. Please see a representative in your building as soon as possible. The last day to purchase these tickets is June 6, 2008.

We look forward to seeing as many people from the APEA as possible. This will be a great event.

I want to take the opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year.

The APEA Executive Committee will be visiting each building within the first week or two back to school to discuss the recently negotiated early separation agreement with the Asbury Park Board of Education. All your questions will be answered when we make these visits. In the interim, please be patient until we are able to come to your building.

We are also looking for a volunteer(s) to head up the Communications Committee. If you are interested, please contact me at the office and leave your name, number and building where you work so that I can get back to you with any details that you need in regard to the committee.

BACK TO SCHOOL CELEBRATION

There will be a back to school celebration held this Friday, September 14, 2007, at Market in the Middle after school. Food will be served as well one drink will be provided. Please try to make every effort to attend this event to come out see old friends and make new ones too.

Also, please remember that contract booklets will be distributed next week throughout the schools. This is your contract so please make the time to pick up this very important document. If you are unable to pick the contract booklet up, please call the APEA Headquarters to set up a time that you can stop by to pick this document up.

We are about to embark on a new school year. This year will prove to be a very challenging, yet productive year. We have many changes that we all must face. The Association Leadership remains committed to moving the district forward with the cooperation of the Central Office and Board of Education. We will continue to see that all issues that are brought forth to the Executive Committee are handled in a timely manner.

We will be around to the 4 main buildings next week to distribute contract booklets. We ask that you make every effort to pick up your booklet. The schedule is as follows:

The annual APEA End of the Year Celebration will be held this Friday, June 15, 2007, after school at the Headliner in Neptune.
